Registration for the first Space Awareness MOOC now open!

The registration for the MOOC “Teaching with Space and Astronomy in the Classroom” is now open!

Using the context of space, this MOOC will help understand and put into practice the Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE) methodology, learn more about using ICT tools for education, develop teaching strategies to manage diverse classrooms, and promote gender balance. Participants will also learn why and how to introduce space careers to students. The course starts on 5th of September 2016. Teachers can register now at the EUN Academy platform.

This first MOOC of the Space Awareness series will equip participants with the skills needed to leverage effectively the potential of space sciences for education. Three practical online courses will follow and introduce major space topics related to many Space Awareness resources:

·         Our Fragile Planet will take participants through basic notions of our planet Earth like its structure and atmosphere and will delve into issues concerning climate change.

·         Our Wonderful Universe will introduce numerous astronomical objects and explore the Solar System and deep space exploration.

·         Navigation through the Ages will present the rich history of navigation, introduce concepts, tools, and terms essential to determine one’s location and the basics of how satellite navigation works, focusing on Galileo Europe’s navigation satellite system.
