The registration for the fourth and final Space Awareness MOOC “Our Fragile Planet” is now open!
The course starts on 2 October 2017!

The fourth and final Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) of the Space Awareness project is now open for registrations and provides teachers from all levels of education with the means to teach space and astronomy related subjects.

This MOOC, which is titled “Our Fragile Planet”, is designed in such a way that all teachers can easily participate in it, focusing especially on those who are interested in astronomy but never had the opportunity to learn more about it. This course is also great for those teachers who have limited background information about space sciences and do not feel comfortable when communicating basic information about the Earth, its properties and its place in the Universe to their students.

The course starts on Monday 2 October 2017, and the registration is already open at the EUN Academy platform.

By joining this course, the participants enhance their basic knowledge about the Earth, its properties, its uniqueness and fragility. The course addresses misconceptions about the connection between space sciences and astronomy with chemistry, biology, geography and Earth sciences. They learn and practice with fun educational activities about weather, climate and the Earth , how to use these activities at school and/or at home, raise awareness about different space missions and space careers, and strengthen social responsibility in relation to climate change.

This course also builds upon the concepts presented in the first Space Awareness MOOC, Teaching with Space and Astronomy in your classroom. Anyone who wishes to join is encouraged to briefly review the topics of Inquiry Based Science Education, ICT tools for space and astronomy, managing diversity and gender balance, and how to introduce space careers to students, before the start of the course.
