As part of the Space Awareness project which is developing and sharing resources for teachers and students across Europe and in Africa, we are inviting you to have your students complete a short online survey of twelve questions about their views of and interest in space. What we find out will help us to improve the Space Awareness activities and help us enthuse children about space, science and technology.
We also think it is important to learn more about children’s perspectives on science and space, especially any reasons they might or might not want to have a job in these areas in future.
What you need to do
We would like you to invite your pupils to complete the survey.
Because the survey is anonymous, we do not require consent from all of the parents of participating students. However, we do ask that you distribute information sheets to the parents. The sheets inform parents about the survey and they also give parents the opportunity to tell you if they do not want their child to participate for any reason. You can find the information sheet here.
The survey is available online here. The survey is also available in the following languages: Bulgarian, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian and Spanish. If you would like information about those surveys, please contact Jen DeWitt (see below).
The survey will be available online until 1 March 2017.
We estimate that this survey should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. There are no open-ended text answers.
If you have any questions, please contact: Jen DeWitt, University College London at j.dewitt@ucl.ac.uk.
