Webinar #10 - Earth2.0: The Future of Humankankind in Space

The webinar Earth2.0 - The Future of Humankind in Space took place in the Scientix online meeting room on the 30th of October 2017 at 17:00 CET, Brussels time.

In this webinar the speaker, Dr. Vladimir Bozhilov discussed the topic of continuously growing number of exoplanets, discovered in orbit around stars other than the Sun. Will we be able to find a twin of the Earth – a distant world we could safely call "a new home for humankind"? Why is Earth so special and how could scientists search for extra-terrestrial lifeforms? Watch the recording of this webinar to get acquainted with the exciting field of exoplanets and the search for habitability to discover the latest breakthroughs in astronomy!

The webinar was held by Dr. Vladimir Bozhilov who holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy. He is currently Head Assistant Professor at the Department of Astronomy, Faculty of Physics at Sofia University, Bulgaria. His main scientific interests are active galactic nuclei (AGN) – quasars and blazars at high redshift, cosmology, exoplanets and habitability. He is EU Space Awareness dissemination node for Bulgaria.

Besides being an active scientist and a lecturer, Vladimir is an active science communicator with more than 100 media appearances on radio and TV and frequent presenter in sci-comm events (like Sofia Science Festival). He won second prize in the FameLab 2010 competition for communicating popular science and first prize in Hall of FameLab International 2014. He is the author of over 60 articles in various Bulgarian popular science magazines and co-author of a popular book on exoplanets and habitability (“Life and Universe”, 2010). Vladimir is also the Editor-in-Chief of Bulgarian “BBC Knowledge” magazine and lecturer at Children's Science Museum “Muzeiko”.
